“I Still Believe in 398.2”

As I was scrolling through one of my favorite websites — Pinterest — I found nostalgia. A post showed a picture of a necklace that had the words “I Still Believe in 398.2” encased in a glass dome. At first I was unsure as to what 398.2 meant, but my eyes were drawn to the overall appearance which consisted of a mixture of cursive writing and a feeling of elegance due to the intertwining ribbon-y design. I was curious.

Thankfully I did not have to look far in order to solve the mystery. In the description, it stated how 398.2 is the fairy tale section of the Dewey Decimal System. Instantly I was pulled back to fourth grade, sitting Indian style on the library floor with my classmates as the librarian had us rehearsing the categories (000-999,100-199, 200-299, etc.) How incredible that image can bring back a moment so clear from 14 years ago? The 8 year old in me felt warm and fuzzy.

But how cute would that necklace be for a librarian or for women having a fairy-tale themed wedding?!?

Speaking of elementary school, as an afterthought, the same librarian used to always recite to our class “non-fiction: true” in order for us to remember the difference between fiction and non-fiction books. This reminded me of a tweet a couple months back posted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson:

I couldn’t agree more with Mr.Tyson with this thought. It is kind of ironic that the truth does not have its own word. On the other hand, something can be True, untrue, or false, but never unfalse.

Anyway, that was my random stumble upon for the day.It was a fond sensation. Have you experienced a run in with a past memory recently?
